Meet the Directors
The Alpena Conservation District currently has five directors. These directors help to steer the District in its conservation choices. The
board is made up of five community members that have diverse background. But, all share the common goal of helping to conserve our
natural resources. The board members are as follows:
Jim Chapman (Chairman) is a retired DNR Conservation Officer. Jim currently has a small cow/calf operation in Alpena county. Jim is a member of the Huron Shores County Farm Bureau and the Alpena MSU Extension
Advisory Committee. Jim has been on the Alpena Conservation District board since 1998.
Kirk Kowalski (Vice Chairperson) is a Michigan State University graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Resource Development. Kirk is the current Chairperson of the Alpena Township Nature Preserve Advisory Committee. Kirk was elected to his second four year term as a Director in October of 2007.
Michael Timm (Secretary-Treasurer) currently operates a dairy farm in southern Alpena County. Mike's farm, Holcomb Creek Dairy, was the first farm in the State to receive MAEAP verification for all three system. Mike was recently elected to a 4 year term. Mike is also very active in several other organizations such as Farm Bureau and MMPA (Michigan Milk Producers Association).
Jeremy Werth (Director) currently works the family dairy farm in Alpena County. Jeremy's farm, Butterwerth Dairy, has received MAEAP verification for all three system. Jeremy was recently elected in 2005 to a four year term. Jeremy is also a very active hunter and snowmobiler.
Eric Woodward (Director) currently operates a dairy farm in southern Alpena County. Eric was recently elected in 2009 to a three year term.
