Annual "Big Tree" Contest

Your friends at the Alpena Conservation District are looking for the biggest trees within the district.  This means all of Alpena County.  Each year we will be looking for the largest tree of a specific type.  For 2010, the species are White Birch, Large Toothed Aspen, and Blue Spruce.  Please see the rules below.

Please

Measure the

circumference

of the tree at 4

feet 6 inches from

the ground.  Permission

of the landowner is required

if tree is on private property.

The contest begins October 1st

and ends September 30th  of each

year.  Prizes will be awarded.  Submit

a picture of the  tree along with the entry

form to The Alpena Conservation District office

by  September 30th .  Results of the entries will

be posted

on our

web site.
